Down here in the desert of New Mexico, the landscape is littered with pieces
of plastic bags that have been discarded, blown about in the wind, and
become lodged on the prickly spines of the local cacti. It's a sight
that can easily detract from the gorgeous mountain views and leave one
wanting to reduce/reuse/recycle with a greater vengeance. I have
always been fairly green, both with the company and personally. This
year, though, I newly pledged to stop using plastic shopping bags. I
now keep totes like this one in my car at all times and simply take them
into the stores with me. Not only do I avoid having to take home
flimsy plastic bags that clog up my kitchen drawers, but the nice,
stout canvas bags are much easier to carry. It's easy and if you don't
do it already, I highly recommend it.
