Joanna Petterson
Joanna Petterson is the woman to watch in the professional downhill and 4X scene, and she is looking to make 2008 her year.  A native South African, Joanna has been involved in all sorts of sports from soccer to surfing to snowboarding, but biking is her greatest passion.  She is hard-working, humble, and kind - a great ambassador of the sport.  Watch out for Ms. Petterson on the trails and give her a proper Harlot woohoo to cheer her on!  That means you, too, Brits and Slovenians - she's lining up for the complete World Cup Series this year.

2008 MSC#2 Chalk Creek: 1st DS, 1st 4X !!!!
Jennifer Lee
Jennifer Lee is a multi-sport athlete that dominates on the bicycle.  She began her athletic career as a runner but began competing in cross-country mountain biking and cycle-cross events in 1994, consistently placing in the top 3 and winning the Southern Oregon cycle-cross championship 2 years in a row.  After a move to Colorado and new interest in road cycling, she quickly qualified to represent Colorado State University in the collegiate road national championships in 2001 and 2002.  Always looking to try new things, Jennifer next started to dabble in duathlons (like triathlons without the getting wet part).  After winning many local and regional duathlon events, she qualified to represent the United States in the Duathlon World Championships in 2002 and 2003.  She finished 3rd in her age group in 2002 and was the second American female finisher in 2003.  A leg fracture slowed her down briefly in 2004, but she was up and running (and winning again) in 2005, ranking third in the Colorado Runners' Magazine running series open women's division.  Most recently she has been focusing on ultimate frisbee, competing on a nationally ranked team.  Read her own humble and funny sum up of her 2006 season here.
Single Speed Outlaw Factory Team
The Single Speed Outlaw Factory Team is a grassroots mountain bike team that promotes mountain biking and trail advocacy. Where most teams stick solely to racing, the Single Speed Factory Outlaw Team members also lead bike rides throughout Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington DC, as well as contribute volunteer hours to trail building, maintenance, and cycling advocacy.  And, of course, they love to promote single speeds and good times.
Update: the SSO team has kept themselves busy all year long.  Check out their fall 2007 newsletter to read about their activities.  6 members of the team competed in the 2007 Single Speed World Championships in Scotland.  Below are some photos of them riding in the land of whiskey and kilts.
Punk Rock Cycling Women's Team

While dedicated to road cycling the women of Punk Rock Cycling also show their grit at cyclocross, mountain biking, and multisport events. Keep your eye out for this amazing group of women! Team members include: Jennifer Greenberg, Kelli Mente, Ana Nelson, Jane Riessen, Maria Ruhtenberg, and Emily Schaapveld.

Starting out as a cross-country mountain biker, Addie Stewart first tried out the thrill of downhill competition in 2004.  In 2005, she finished the season ranked 1st overall in Utah and nationally in Women's Downhill.  She also started racing Mountain Cross/Dual Slalom in 2005 and won the US Women's National title.  Addie made the jump in '06 from Expert to Pro in Downhill and Mountain Cross/Dual Slalom.   At a petite 5'2", this hard-working athlete is quickly rising to the top of her sport.  Watch out for great things to come from Addie!
Update: 2007 Bald Mountain Challenge, DH 2nd
            2007 Flyin' Brian, DH 3rd, Super-D 2nd
Addie spent most of the 2007 season injured (side effect of being such a daredevil), but she plans on coming back strong for 2008.  In fact, she's trying her hand at triathlons and just got 8th overall woman in her first tri after only learning to swim 1 year ago.  Seriously.
