Balls to the Wall - most people think of it as a term meaning
"go all out", i.e. "Last one to the bottom of the trail buys the
beer. Balls to the Wall!". Interestingly, this phrase
originates from a pilot term used in the navy. Apparently,
when you push the balls (throttle control handles) to the wall
(front of the cockpit), you reach top speed. Balls to the
Wall was also the name of a metal album by a German band named
Accept in 1983, considered by some to be the greatest metal
album of all time. Go figure.
